Marchisio bids farewell to the club after 25 years in black and white
Italian international midfielder Claudio Marchisio is now a free agent after being released by Juventus on Friday morning.
The 32-year-old Turin native departs his hometown team after more than two decades with them, a stint which began in 1993 as a youth footballer.
He has spent his entire club career with Juventus bar one season – 2007/08 – on loan at Empoli and sits 18th in their all-time appearance list with 389 matches.
During a glittering career at the Juventus Stadium – and previously the Stadio delle Alpi – Marchisio won seven straight Serie A titles, three Italian Super Cups and four Coppa Italia trophies.
He also participated in two Champions League finals for Juventus.
Marchisio suffered a serious knee injury in April 2016, which kept him out for six months, and struggled to truly establish himself back into the side afterwards.
His availability will likely spark the interest of a number of European clubs looking for a player with vast amounts of European experience and the ability to wear sunglasses better than anyone on earth.
While the transfer window is closed for Premier League sides, teams with an available place in their league squads would conceivably be able to sign and register Marchisio if a deal is agreed.
