The Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate that was scheduled to take place last weekend could now take place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The second leg of the final between the two Buenos Aires teams was postponed after River Plate fans attacked the Boca team bus on its way to River’s Monumental stadium, leaving the away side in no condition to play.
With the Club World Cup just around the corner, and one of these sides obliged to go as South America’s representative, the final must be concluded soon. But there is a cloud of uncertainty around where it could be played, with Buenos Aires seemingly off the cards.
Genoa recently offered their stadium, but today a new candidate emerged, after El Chiringuito TV, a Spanish football panel show, reported that the second leg of the final could be played at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu.

Wherever it is played, Argentina will lament the fact that they could not stage the most hotly anticipated Superclásico of all time without tempers overspilling and spoiling the occasion.
