Ronaldo’s Juventus debut was an eventful one
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus career began with a victory this weekend, as the Bianconeri beat Chievo 3-2 thanks for a last minute winner from super sub Federico Bernadeschi.
Ronaldo was not on the scoresheet but was a constant threat in behind and tested the Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino several times, but could not beat the Italian.
When the score was locked at 2-2 with the clock ticking down, Juventus thought that they had sealed the win when Mario Mandžukić headed the ball in after a goalmouth scramble, only for the goal to be disallowed after an accidental clash between Cristiano Ronaldo and Sorrentino was spotted via VAR.
The Chievo goalkeeper took a knee to the face and came off worst from the collision and had to be substituted.
Ronaldo sent a message of support to Sorrentino after the match, for which the 39-yer-old expressed his gratitude on social media.
Ho ricevuto un messaggio di vicinanza e pronta guarigione da parte di Cristiano Ronaldo.
