Ronaldo will sign for Al-Nassr, according to reports.
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a contract with Al-Nassr and will join the Saudi Arabian side on January 1, according to reports in Spain.
The Portugal captain is a free agent after leaving Manchester United ahead of the World Cup. Ronaldo will earn €200m a season (£172m), Marca reports.
Last week, the same outlet reported that the 37-year-old was close to joining the Saudi club. This was after his contract at United was terminated by mutual consent following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan a week before the start of the World Cup.
Al-Nassr’s offer is far greater than anything tabled by clubs in Europe or Major League Soccer, which some speculated may have been a possible next step for him.
Frenchman Rudi Garcia is the current manager of Al Nassr, having previously been in charge at Roma, Marseille and Lyon.
Ronaldo will now be able to count Cameroon’s World Cup star Vincent Aboubakar and former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina as teammates at the Saudi giants, who have been crowned winner’s of the country’s top flight nine times.
Before his move to Saudi Arabia though, he’ll be keen to extend his stay in Qatar as Portugal prepare to take on Switzerland in the World Cup last 16 on Tuesday evening.
Should they win, it will set up a quarter final match against Morocco, or neighbours Spain.
