James is currently the subject of interest from Manchester United

The father of Swansea City footballer Daniel James passed away suddenly this week at the age of 60.

James is the currently the subject of a £15 million bid from Manchester United, and while there has been no agreement between Swansea and United, it is understood the Premier League side will give James as much as is necessary before attempting to move any further with the deal.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, while James’ father had been ill for some time, his family had not expected him to pass away so suddenly.

The Welsh international – who scored on his debut for Ryan Giggs’ side – has been the target of several bids since breaking into the Swans first team last season.

A proposed move to Leeds United fell through at the eleventh hour in January, with the midfielder left waiting at Elland Road for Swansea’s approval before hearing that the club had pulled the plug on the deal.

It is understood that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United team have beaten off competition from Brighton and Hove Albion for the 21-year-old’s signature.

His former Swans manager, Graham Potter, joined the Seagulls this week.
