Daniel Sturridge is a major doubt for England’s upcoming games against Lithuania and Italy after injuring his hip against Manchester United.
The Liverpool striker will be assessed by the club’s medical staff at St. George’s Park before any decision is made about his condition.
It is unlikely that England manager Roy Hodgson would risk playing Sturridge unless he was 100% fit, given the injury problems suffered by the 25-year-old so far this season.
Sturridge injured his thigh on England duty just a couple of weeks into the season and did not make his return until late in January. He has scored four goals for his club since, including the Reds’ goal in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to their most bitter rivals.
Adam Lallana, meanwhile, has pulled out of both England games.
The former Southampton midfielder was (briefly) replaced by Steven Gerrard at half-time during the United defeat after suffering a groin injury.
