Imagine what he’d be like if every second game he played wasn’t a return from injury.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge scored his first Premier League goal in 266 days when he made a brilliant run and volleyed home a sumptuous strike with the outside of his left boot during the Reds’ 3-2 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.
It didn’t take quite as long for him to get his next when he passed the ball beyond Brad Guzan to make the result safe for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
After that brace, Sturridge’s goalscoring record was examined and it turns out that the England international is literally the most prolific striker to play for Liverpool in the Premier League era.
That means that he owns a better ratio than the likes of Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Michael Owen and yes, even Andy Carroll.
In his 57 games for the Reds, Sturridge has found the net on 37 occasions which gives him a pretty crazy ratio of 0.65 goals a game.
