Preston defeated the Owls by a goal

The Football Association are set to investigate Preston North End defender Darnell Fisher, who was captured on camera grabbing opponent Callum Paterson’s genitals twice during a game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The match, which was won by the home side after Tom Barkhuizen’s 48th minute goal, was the first in charge for new Wednesday manager Tony Pulis, who replaced Garry Monk earlier this month.

It’s understood that the FA is aware of the incident, and will begin an investigation once they receive the referee’s report.

Fisher, who plays right-back for the Championship side, can be seen on footage marking Scotland international Paterson at a corner-kick. On two separate occasions Fisher can be seen grabbing his opponent’s genitals early in the second half.

After the first incident, Paterson appears to seek the referee’s attention, before Fisher repeats the action.

In March of this year, England rugby international Joe Marler received a 10-week ban for grabbing Wales’ Alun Wyn Jones’ genitals.
