David Beckham’s son Romeo made his football debut at the weekend for Inter Miami’s reserve team, Fort Lauderdale CF.
The 19-year-old featured for 79-minutes before being substituted in the 2-2 draw with South Georgia Tormenta, operating from the right-wing.
Beckham was playing alongside first-team manager Phil Neville’s son Harvey who left Manchester United earlier this year to join his father in the US.
Despite failing to leave his mark on the fixture, Beckham was able to show glimpses of his quality – particularly in the second-half after the winger had settled into the game – and accumulated 19 touches in the USL League One encounter at Drv Pnk Stadium.
On the other hand, Neville completed the full 90-minutes and impressed from start to finish with a tidy display in the centre of midfield.

Ex-Sunderland forward Mitchell Curry opened the scoring for the home side in the 13th minute, cutting in on his right-foot before bending the ball around the keeper.
Azzaad Liadi levelled the encounter in the 22nd minute, before George Acosta resorted Fort Lauderdale’s lead soon after.
It looked as though Beckham and his teammates were going to hold on for victory, until Marco Micaletto scored for the away side and made it 2-2 in the 85th minute.
The debut of Beckham’s son came as a shock to some football fans, given the fact that Inter Miami had failed to announce that Romeo had signed for Miami’s sister-side earlier this month.
Whilst it became clear that it is going to take some time for the 19-year-old to adjust to the speed and intensity of the professional game, Beckham will be given more chances to impress throughout the season.
In what is essentially the third tier of US Soccer, the sheer presence of Beckham will have a positive impact on the popularity of football at that level.
