Just 24 days on from the clusterf*ck that was his non-transfer to Real Madrid, David De Gea captained Manchester United against Ipswich in the League Cup.
With 10 minutes to go and United leading 2-0, Louis van Gaal withdrew Wayne Rooney for Memphis Depay – and Bastian Schweinsteiger handed over the armband to De Gea.
Schweinsteiger’s move drew a warm round of applause from the United faithful, despite the fact that the Spaniard was on the brink of joining Real only a few weeks ago.
This morning, De Gea gave his reaction…
Great win yesterday! Let's think about our next rivals and keep improving. I'm proud to wear this armband! #MUFC pic.twitter.com/gduqspyh4a

He followed that up with a similarly themed Spanish tweet with a snap of him applauding the four corners of Old Trafford.
