David de Gea to Real Madrid… not so fast!
The Manchester United goalkeeper’s future has already become one of the most annoying never-ending stories of this summer’s transfer rumour.
All the signs pointed towards the Spaniard leaving Old Trafford for the greener pastures of the Bernabeu.
Before Red Devils fans flip the lid, that’s not unfair to say. Real Madrid won La Liga and the Champions League this season, United came sixth in the Premier League and were the Europa League champions. The grass is greener in the Spanish capital.
First it was reported that los Blancos bid €69 million for the shot-stopper, then it was reported that United slapped a €75 million price-tag on de Gea.
The latest from Spain is that Zinedine Zidane has lost interest.
Wait, what?
Spanish outlet Marca are reporting that Zizou will not try to sign the superstar goalkeeper as he plans to keep the faith in current number one Keylor Navas.
The Costa Rican international came under fire for failing to stop Mario Mandzukic’s acrobatic effort in the Champion’s League final, but according to these reports, his job between the posts is safe.
Real Madrid are Real Madrid, so therefore one would expect them to go after the biggest names in world football. However, they have just completed a historic double. Perhaps there won’t be too drastic of a shake-up in their team next season.
