Any Liverpool hopes of signing Asier Illaramendi have been dashed by a familiar face.
Illaremendi has left Real Madrid to rejoin Real Soceidad, currently managed by former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes.

Liverpool had been linked with the player since Rafael Benitiez was appointed as Real Madrid manager at the beginning of the season, but it appears the lure of his boyhood club was simply too great to turn down.
“I wanted to return, I haven’t yet spoken to my teammates, later I will speak with them. Real [Sociedad] has always been my first option and I was really wanting to return home, of course,” Illaramendi told reporters.
Although it might be a bit of a blow for some Liverpool supporters, enjoying David Moyes’ comical pronunciation of his new player’s name should at least put a smile on their faces…
