Arsenal supporters have never been the type to question Arsene Wenger.
Despite failing to deliver a league title to the club in over a decade, Gooners the world over continue to pledge their unanimous support to their manager.
Having watched rival clubs spend hundreds of millions on new players, Arsenal supporters have yet again been delighted by their manager’s comparatively frugal approach in the transfer market.
An early summer move for Granit Xhaka – who joined the club for £34m – might well have suggested that Wenger was embarking on a similar spending spree to those witnessed at both Manchester clubs. However, having added Rob Holding for £2m and Takuma Asano for an undisclosed (but almost certainly peanuts) fee, it appears Arsenal will not be spending anything close to the fee stumped up for Xhaka any time soon.
Speaking at his press conference on the eve of the Premier League season, a boastful Wenger told reporters that his squad was ‘too big’ and, although the recent defensive injuries may force his hand to sign a centre back, his embarrassment of riches in other departments means that there is simply no need to sign players for any other position.
“I don’t count in numbers as the squad is too big,” he beamed.  “I’m looking at no other areas bar centre back. It’s about quality.”
After being tipped to make a move for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, it seems Wenger is more than happy to try and win the league with the prolific Olivier Giroud, the consistent Theo Walcott and the readily available Danny Welbeck spearheading his attack.
Yet again, Arsenal fans were quick to respond to his comments, saluting their manager’s refusal to be pressured into adding to his pool of striking options.

Dear @Arsenal & Arsene Wenger, if u know u need to improve ur striking dept, then go all out & pay for a striker. Stop penny pinching! Thx!

Wenger is a joke – says he will only buy a ‘superstar’ striker but unwilling to pay the asking price. Don't insult Arsenal fans. #wengerout
