Just like in May 2014, Steven Gerrard has seen his big moment outshone by Demba Ba.
While Gerrard arrived in Los Angeles with little fanfare ahead of his first LA Galaxy training session, former Chelsea man Ba was granted a hero’s welcome upon touching down in China to complete his move to Shanghai Shenhua.

Despite being on the opposite side of the world, the man who capitalised on Gerrard’s famous slip had no trouble embarrassing him again.
Ba has moved to Shanghai in a club record deal worth £9m, and fans of the team must have fond memories of his goal which denied Liverpool the Premier League title.
Gerrard’s underwhelming welcome is not the first time a former Premier League star has failed to cause a stir in Los Angeles, with fellow Galaxy player Robbie Keane famously being labelled as an “unidentified fan” by one publication.
