Whisper it around Old Trafford, but perhaps Man United fans are beginning to wish they had Jurgen Klopp as manager instead of Louis van Gaal.
The likeable German is walking the walk as well as talking the talk at Anfield, bringing with him an attractive brand of dynamic, attacking football to Liverpool – precisely the style of play that United supporters have been crying out for.
Instead they are witness to patient, functional fare under Van Gaal, who is determined to prevail via death by a thousand passes. That’s all well and good, but when there is little end product to the controlled possession, there seems little point.
Liverpool’s 6-1 victory at Southampton on Wednesday night had Scousers cooing and Mancs ruing the day Klopp decided to take up residency on Merseyside. For many it drove home the difference in potency between the fierce northern giants.
