Last night Errol Spence Jr in his IBF welterweight championship bout against Kell Brook. Brook was the favourite going into the fight, and was expected to find a way past the American.
However, in the tenth round Spence Jr caught Brook with a series shots, eventually leading to a stoppage in the following round – and only the second defeat of Brook’s career, in front of a hometown crown at Sheffield’s Bramall Lane. Brook’s eye was swollen and almost completely closed when he took a knee in the penultimate round.

After the fight, Brook said:
I couldn’t see out of the eye, so I had to stop. I thought it was very competitive. He won a few rounds, I won a few rounds, I felt I was in the fight. I’m gutted, devastated that in front of my own fans I’ve lost my belt.
Brook previously underwent surgery on his right eye socket after his defeat to Gennady Golovkin last September.
