What a hero
Villarreal caused one of the great Champions League upsets on Tuesday, drawing with Bayern Munich 1-1 on the night to secure a 2-1 aggregate victory and book their place in the semi-finals for the first time since 2006.
Samuel Chukwueze’s late equaliser cancelled out Robert Lewandowski’s opener to ensure the Yellow Submarine advanced to the final four, as the Allianz Arena fell silent in shock.
And it wasn’t just the 50,000 people of Villarreal who celebrated this historic win; rival fans of Bayern were also keen to make the most of the shock result, because football is all about schadenfreude.
A video posted by Bundesliga journalist Archie Rhind-Tutt showed a very intoxicated FC Köln fan sneaking onto the pitch after every other fan had departed the stadium.
It remains unclear how he managed to circumvent security, or indeed continue to walk after landing from quite a high jump, but nothing was going to stop him from soaking up every second of joy.

Villarreal will now play the winner of Liverpool vs Benfica, the second leg of which will take place tonight (Wednesday April 13). Benfica go into the game at Anfield 3-1 down and would have to pull off a similarly miraculous result to reach the semi-finals, so you’re probably better off watching Manchester City vs Atlético Madrid.
