“We should have hijacked the Sane deal.”
Manchester United are good again. I remember writing that a million times when Solskjaer first took over but this time, it might actually be true? I don’t know. They could easily go back to being rubbish next season. But for now, they’re very good.
Their turnaround in form began before the COVID-induced hiatus, and United have kicked on since the return of football behind closed doors. The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has had a huge impact on their attacking play, with the team now at least looking like there is some semblance of a plan going forward. Even if that plan is just, ‘pass the ball to Bruno and see what he does.’
Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke, who won a historic treble with the club in 1999, believes Bruno is the reason for this change.
“It’s looked much more watchable,” Yorke said.
“You can actually sit down to watch a game of football knowing that, at least we’ve got players who will attack defenders and try to score.”
Yorke also compared his relationship on the field with Andy Cole to that of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, saying he would prefer to see them playing closer together at times – something that hijacking the Leroy Sané transfer to Bayern would have allowed them to do.
