Dwight Yorke’s friends are piling in to try and get him the Aston Villa job, it seems.
The former Manchester United, and of course Villa striker, declared his intentions to take over from Tim Sherwood before his body had been shipped out of Villa Park, at the weekend. Sherwood was given the heave-ho by Villa following their 2-1 loss to Swansea

The bookies expect Remi Garde to get the job, but one of Yorke’s old pals from his time at Old Trafford feels that the ex-Sunderland man could be right for the job.
And no, it’s not Roy Keane.
According to Yorke, at least, who’s quoted in the Birmingham Mail, Sir Alex Ferguson has given him his backing to take the reins. Ferguson thinks that because Yorke has his coaching badges safely secured he’d be ideal to guide his former club away from relegation trouble,
“Sir Alex has spoken to me and given me his backing, he believes I can do it. Despite him releasing me from United, we have always remained on good terms and I am an ambassador for the club. If I was such the bad boy people have made out, I am sure that would not be the case.
“I have done all my coaching badges at Manchester United and St George’s Park. I’m convinced I could guide Villa up the table.”
The reaction has not been good

However it may not be as crazy as it seems as Andy Gray also feels that Yorke could be a good fit at Villa Park
