Before Chelsea won the European Cup in 2012, it had seemed Eden Hazard’s future lay in Manchester.
Then a highly-rated youngster with Lille in Ligue 1, the Belgian was said to be a target for both United and City.
Although they finished outside the Champions League spots in the Premier League, Chelsea’s triumph in Munich saw them invited back into the competition the following season, and the lure of playing for the European champions was enough to attract Hazard to the capital, instead of Manchester.
Hazard was fantastic in Chelsea’s march to the title last season, and deservedly won the PFA player of the year award.
This season, however, things haven’t been so great, with the Belgian suffering a dip in form and failing to score for his club.
The Sun claim that he may now move to Manchester, with City said to be interested in him.
His Belgian colleagues Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany will apparently look to persuade Hazard to head north in a deal that could amount to a staggering £80m.
If we’re being honest, it’s highly unlikely Chelsea will allow one of their players to move to either of the Manchester clubs.
With Zinedine Zidane said to be keen on bringing him to the Bernabeu, perhaps Real Madrid is a more likely destination if he is to leave Stamford Bridge.
