Eden Hazard was the star of the show this afternoon
The Belgian winger was Chelsea’s saviour today, scoring a hat-trick to ensure Chelsea’s fifth victory from five matches as they came from a goal down to beat Cardiff 4-1.
But Hazard was keen to praise his attacking partner, Olivier Giroud, for his contribution to Chelsea’s win.
In his post-match interview, Hazard was asked how much easier Giroud makes life for the players around him, and Hazard heaped the praise on the Frenchman, saying he was possibly the “best target man in the world”.
Olivier Giroud, the best target man in the world?

Giroud has locked down his place in the starting XI for Chelsea, despite Álvaro Morata starting the season up front. His link-up play and chemistry with Hazard make him a nuisance to defenders, for which Hazard is very grateful.
It should be no surprise, though, as Giroud’s all round influence on games was visible at the World Cup. Despite not having a shot on target throughout the entire tournament, he was a key player for the tournament winners, as he allowed Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappé to be more effective in attack.
He is an unorthodox striker, and part of a dying breed, but as Hazard says, he is arguably the best target man in the world.
