England and Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has been forced to call time on his cricket career due to a serious heart condition.
Recent scans on the 26-year-old have revealed a similar problem to the one that forced footballer Fabrice Muamba to end his career, reports the BBC.
Taylor, who featured in seven Tests for England as well as many one-day internationals shared the news on his Twitter page.
Safe to say this has been the toughest week of my life! My world is upside down. But I'm here to stay and I'm battling on! #lifestooshort 😝🤒

Taylor was said to have been absent from Nottinghamshire’s pre-season fixture against with a viral condition but his county have now revealed the diagnosis in a statement, which featured comments from former England captain and current team director, Andrew Strauss.
‘Throughout his career, he has constantly impressed with his determination to make the absolute most of his ability,’ Strauss explained.
‘It is immensely cruel that such a hard working player will be unable to fulfil his great potential in the international arena.’
