It appears the Nations League may be coming home…
A late goal from England captain Harry Kane secured England a place in the semi-finals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League, in a reverse of the 2-1 defeat against Croatia that plunged the Three Lions out of the summer’s World Cup.
Goals from Jesse Lingard and Harry Kane gave England a 2-1 win over Croatia after the team went a goal down in the second half when Andrej Kramaric’s shot deflected off Eric Dier’s thigh and past Jordan Pickford in the 57th minute.
After Croatia went ahead, anything less than a win would have seen England related from Group 4 of League A, but the Three Lions fought back, first through a Lingard 78th minute tap-in following a long-throw and then a Kane winner with five minutes to go after a Ben Chilwell free-kick.
England will now travel to Portugal next June where a mini-tournament between the winners of the four League A groups will be hosted in the cities of Porto and Guimaraes.
