As mentioned in Gareth Southgate’s pre-match press conference, Wayne Rooney has been dropped to the bench for England’s World Cup qualifier in Slovenia.
Jordan Henderson has taken the armband from the Manchester United man, with Eric Dier taking Rooney’s place in the centre of midfield.
Southgate’s only other change is an enforced one. Ryan Bertrand was forced off through injury in the first half of the win over Malta, and Danny Rose – the man who replaced him on Saturday – starts at left-back.

England currently sit atop their qualifying group, but can be overtaken by Slovenia if the home side pick up all three points in Ljubljana.
Last time the two countries met, England won 3-2 in a qualifying game for Euro 2016.
Neither of the goalscorers from that game are involved, with Rooney on the bench and Jack Wilshere – who scored the first two England goals – not in the squad at all.
