Sunderland’s victory over Manchester United left the Old Trafford club’s hopes of making the top four dangling by a thread.
Even Louis van Gaal was forced to admit that winning the Europa League may be United’s best hope of making a return to the Champions League next season.
Unsurprisingly, the result also saw plenty of United supporters calling for their manager to be replaced.
Jose Mourinho has consistently been linked with the role since United’s form took a significant nosedive in November, and the loss at the Stadium of Light is guaranteed to heighten any speculation about the former Chelsea boss heading to Old Trafford.
Plenty think it’s already a foregone conclusion, and it seems Gary Lineker is one of those people.
The Match of the Day host sent the tweet below out as Sunderland condemned United to another damaging defeat.
