Everton have lost six of their last seven matches
Everton have stated that manager Rafael Benitez continues to have their “full support” following the departure of director of football Marcel Brands.
Brands left the club on Sunday evening, with owner Farhad Moshiri attempting to solve the current crisis at Goodison Park.Â
The 59-year-old – who joined from PSV Eindhoven in 2018 – has been heavily criticised during his reign at the club, which has seen the Toffees spend £300m on transfers since his arrival.
Following the 4-1 Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool last week, angry supporters made their feelings know to both Brands and chairman Bill Kenwright.
Speaking on his departure, the Dutchman insisted that it was ‘one of the most difficult decisions’ he has faced in his career.
“The board and I agreed that there is a clear difference in the vision and direction for this beautiful club,” he said.
“This decision has taken some time and some consideration and was one of the most difficult I have faced in my career.”

During his time on Merseyside, Brands has worked alongside managers Marco Silva, Carlo Ancelotti and Benitez.Â
Everton have confirmed that they will now undergo a strategic review of the football structure “which will inform the best model for the club to proceed with in the long term”.
“The owner and directors would like to thank Marcel for the service he has given to the club over the past three and a half years and wish him well for his future,” read a statement.
The Toffees welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park on Monday (6 December), having lost six of their last seven matches – a run that has seen them fall to 16th in the table.
