A heartwarming gesture from Everton to a devoted fan
Everton invited a lifelong fan with Down’s syndrome to take part in a training session this week, after a video of the fan celebrating a goal went viral.
Danny, 28, is a season ticket holder at Goodison Park and watched the Toffees play their home matches from the disabled section.
Earlier this season, a video of Danny celebrating an Everton goal went viral on Twitter, with some users mocking him for his levels of enthusiasm when the goal was only a consolation.
As a gesture of goodwill, the club then decided to bring him in to meet his heroes, who were accommodating and included him in some passing drills.
Danny was evidently thrilled to meet his heroes, as he shouted “Give it up for 23 Seámus Coleman!”, imitating the stadium announcer.
After meeting the first team squad, Danny had lunch and trained with the under-23 squad, to top off a day that he will never forget.
"I don't think he'll ever forget it"
