News broke on Tuesday evening that Fifa were set to investigate Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United last summer.
Pogba re-joined his former club on a five-year deal last August, becoming the most expensive player in the world in the process, with a fee in the region of £89.3 million being splashed out for his services.
The story was broken by AFPÂ but there was very little in the way of explanatory information about the details of the investigation.

And, in the absence of anything resembling facts, football fans did what football fans love to do…. Speculate.
All sorts of theories were bandied about on social media about the reason for the investigation, its potential findings and the worst case scenario in terms of punishment for the Red Devils.
This was the main joke doing the rounds.
FIFA investigating the Pogba deal. Maybe they're calling in the nurse to ask why someone would pay that much for him

FIFA to investigate Pogba's transfer to United
After nine months they still cannot believe that United paid 89 million pounds for him— Azza Wan Bizza (@TheKylianJoke) May 9, 2017
Although this one was also an interesting suggestion.

Some played down the potential punishment.
Whatever FIFA may or may not find wrong with Pogbas transfer will be swept under the carpet by Gill. Nothing will come of it.

But, all jokes aside, the reported £41 million that agent Mino Raiola is set to earn from the deal is what most people suspect the investigation is based on.Â
…Pretty sure this is related to Mino Raiola reportedly taking in £41 million from Manchester United for the Paul Pogba transfer https://t.co/tORlNCLZfu
— Shahan Ahmed (@shahanLA) May 9, 2017
FIFA will be investigating the fee Raiola got for the Pogba transfer, cause it was ridiculous, I doubt United have done anything wrong.
