Everyone made the same joke after Troy Deeney’s red card against Huddersfield

Showing a bit too much of those cojones, Troy

Tranquilo, Troy.

It was a day to forget for Watford this afternoon, as they lost 4-1 at home to newly promoted Huddersfield.

Two goals down after 23 minutes, Mr Watford, Troy Deeney was not happy. As captain, he probably shouldn’t have let his rage get the better of him so quickly, but he reacted aggressively and got himself sent off in the 33rd minute for a reckless tackle from behind.

Having berated Arsenal for a lack of ‘cojones’ back in October while speaking to BT Sport, Deeney was always going to be subject to much ridicule after he seemed to show more cojones than sense.

Arsenal fans indulged in a bit of schadenfreude.

This red card comes just days after Tom Cleverley was sent off midweek against Crystal Palace, also wearing the captain’s armband at the time.

It was a scrappy, high-scoring encounter at Vicarage Road, with Huddersfield emerging victorious, defeating the Hornets by a 4-1 scoreline as well as losing their own player Jonathan Hogg to a red card after a second yellow card-worthy foul just after the hour mark.

After a promising start to the season, Watford are now without a win in five league games and losing their talisman to suspension is unlikely to help them rediscover some form.
