At one point it looked like all the English teams would struggle to escape the groups stages of the Champions League.
But they rallied. Each of the Premier League contingent brought their undeniable quality and fighting spirit to the fore. In the end, the respective tacticians managed to expertly guide their teams to the knockout stages.
All except Louis van Gaal and Man United.
Wednesday night ended with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City fans jubilant, whilst United supporters looked to free up their diaries for every second Thursday of the new year.
Naturally, they weren’t allowed to mourn their singular failure alone. No – everyone on the internet was ready to merciless ridicule the red half of Manchester.
The internet can be cruel, cruel place sometimes…
