Fans were all saying the exact same thing about Victor Lindelof against Huddersfield

He didn't have the best game, to put it politely

€35 million, ladies and gents.

Of course it would be unfair to judge Victor Lindelof on one poor game but Manchester United’s summer signing really didn’t cover himself in glory against Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

Lindelof looked like he was in well over his head when he came off the bench to replace Phil Jones in the first half of United’s clash at John Smith’s Stadium.

The hosts hadn’t scored in 432 of action but they found the net against United when Tom Ince turned Lindelof inside out before Aaron Mooy eventually broke the deadlock.

The hosts found themselves 2-0 to the good just five minutes later when a hopeful punt up the pitch from goalkeeper Jonas Loessl looked destined for a clearing header from Lindelof.

But the Swedish centre-half seemingly took his eye off the dropping ball as he completely lost track of its flight and shortly after it bounced into the path of the brilliantly aware Laurent Depoitre, David De Gea was picking it out of his net.

It was a nightmare half for the unassured Lindelof and supporters couldn’t help but point out the irony of his shaky defending taking place on the birthday of one of the club’s most reliable centre-halves of all time.

Nemanja Vidic turned 36 on Saturday and fans were horrified to see his birthday sullied by such shocking defensive work.
