Five-a-side player attempts Ronaldo’s ‘SIU’ celebration, ends up in hospital

Probably not the outcome he expected

A five-a-side player attempted to copy Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark ‘SIUUU’ celebration, only to injure himself and end up in hospital.

Ronaldo’s celebration, which is often mimicked by fans, teammates and opposition players, is widely recognised around the globe and has been synonymous with the Portuguese superstar for a number of years.

While the celebration is far from difficult to master, not everyone is able to crack it – with some people even hurting themselves in the process.

After scoring a penalty in a five-a-side match, one man attempted the ‘SIUUU’ celebration, however, his execution was off and he landed awkwardly on his left leg.

This led to him needing treatment at hospital – which somehow ended with a pizza and a bottle of beer.

Since Ronaldo began to implement the hop, skip and jump into his celebration, many people have questioned its origin.

The 37-year-old has previously revealed that the ‘SIUUU’ celebration was created during a pre-season game for Real Madrid against Chelsea back in 2013.

“I started to say ‘si’, it’s like ‘yes’, when I was in Real Madrid,” Ronaldo explained.

“When we would win, everyone would say ‘siiiii’ and so I started to say it. I don’t know why, it was natural.

“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea [in 2013] and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration.

“I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest. Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they’re like ‘Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuuu’.

“I’m like ‘wow! People are reminded of me because of it!’ So it’s good, and I’ll continue doing it like that.”

Last month, Andy Murray admitted he was ‘incredibly irritated’ by the Ronaldo-inspired ‘SIU’ celebrations following his hard-fought victory in the first round of the Australian Open.

During the match, shouts of ‘SIU’ could be heard from the crowd, with the Scotsman revealing that he found the cries irritating.
