The Premier League is back
Give yourself a pat on the back. You’ve made it through yet another international break, and you will be rewarded this Saturday when Premier League football returns. Glorious, glorious Premier League. And what better way to resume the club season than with Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool? Speaking of which, you might want to remove a couple of Spurs players from your team…
1. Transfer OUT Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris
Dele Alli picked up a knock playing for England and will therefore miss the Liverpool game this Saturday. His teammate Hugo Lloris will also be sidelined for the coming weeks after sustaining a thigh injury, so be sure to transfer the Spurs duo out of your team and put that money to good use. Southampton No.1 Alex McCarthy has started the season in fine FPL form, and a home match against Brighton on Monday is another chance to pick up a clean sheet.
2. Alexandre Lacazette could be this weekend’s star striker
With Spurs and Liverpool facing off at Wembley, pitting both Harry Kane and Roberto Firmino against a pair of solid defences, you will be better off looking elsewhere for your weekly dose of goals.
Arsenal, meanwhile, travel to Newcastle. With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both in scoring form after their trip to Cardiff, selecting one of the Arsenal forwards could be the most fruitful investment this week.
I would lean towards Lacazette, as he seems to have won the battle for the central attacking position, with Aubameyang drifting out to the left. Lacazette is also one of the least selected forwards, with only 3.4% of managers taking a punt on the Frenchman.
3. Jose Holebas is a must-haveÂ
If you’re looking for a defender who likes to get forward and chip in with goals and assists, you’ll struggle to find better value than Jose Holebas. The Watford left-back has already racked up 34 points this season and, while that’s 10 fewer than Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, Holebas will only set you back £4.8m. He’s also only been selected by 14.8% of FPL managers, while Alonso is a popular pick at 40.1%.
Get him in your team before he goes mainstream.
4. It’s Cenk Tosun’s time to shine
The Turkey international hasn’t scored so far this season, but this weekend will likely see him get off the mark, as Everton host West Ham United on Sunday. West Ham haven’t managed to cobble together a single point this season, conceding 10 goals in four matches and scoring just two. Tosun will be gunning to get on the scoresheet, and will only set you back £7m.
5. It’s time to captain Agüero again
Man City host Fulham this weekend, which means one thing: goals goals goals. Fulham are a good side who move the ball well, but if they try to play City at their own game, there’s only going to be one winner. The London side are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and City have scored 11 goals, more than any other team in the league. It’s a no-brainer to captain their star striker really, isn’t it?
