And so, another international break comes to an end
Calm down, fun’s over, the international break is finished and we must now return to the mundanity of club football, where goals are scored, points are shared, and at the end of the season, Manchester City win the title.
No more singing Three Lions until the summer, when England avenge Portugal for 2004 and 2006 on their home turf. Until then, we must endure the rest of the Premier League season. Thankfully, we have Fantasy Premier League to make it a bit more interesting. And to boost your chances of racking up as many points as possible this weekend, I have once again compiled a list of players who you should definitely transfer in for this weekend.
Again, I take no responsibility if they bomb. I cannot be held responsible for the chaotic nature of the Premier League.
1. Kyle Walker – Manchester City, £6.5m
The best right back in the league has been consistently excellent over the past few seasons. He is still underrated by many, suffering the long-term effects on his reputation for the occasional brain fart while at Tottenham Hotspur. Man City will take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday, and Walker should have some fun getting in behind Aaron Cresswell down the Hammers’ left side. He is City’s third highest scoring defender in FPL this season, with 54 points – more than Leroy Sané and Riyad Mahrez.
2. Ruben Neves – Wolves, £5m
Wolves have impressed everyone since being promoted to the Premier League. Their cultured style of play makes them look right at home in the top flight, and that has come in no small part thanks to Ruben Neves, their goalscoring holding midfielder. With Raul Jimenez misfiring in front of goal, the Midlands side may have to rely on Neves to get them over the line against Huddersfield this weekend. At a very reasonable price of £5m, it would be rude not to include the Portuguese in your team this week.
3. Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Arsenal, £6.7m
He hasn’t exactly set the world alight since moving to Arsenal, but with both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang possibly doubts for the weekend, Unai Emery will look to the Armenian to provide some potency in attack against Bournemouth. Mkhitaryan will only set you back £6.7m and has been selected by just 5.2 per cent of managers. After scoring a winner off the bench against Wolves last time out, his confidence will be high going into this fixture.
4. Jordan Pickford – Everton, £4.9m
England’s number 1 is most famous for acrobatic saves, pin-point distribution and having ‘get the rave on’ stitched into his boots. He’s also a steal on FPL. He is the third highest scoring goalkeeper this season, behind Ederson and Rui Patricio, but costs £0.9m less than the Man City keeper, at just £4.9m. Everton are at home to Cardiff this weekend, so a clean sheet is almost a certainty.
5. David Silva – £8.6m
What can be said about this magician that hasn’t been said before? It’s David Silva. He’s really, really good. Manchester City are playing West Ham. He’s not the most expensive. Just get him in there.
