Hello again
You’re probably sick of all this football now, aren’t you? Every three days, just relentless, dizzying, non-stop football. What day is it? Nobody knows. Nobody cares, either. There’s football on and that’s all that matters. And of course, that means there’s another gameweek on Fantasy Premier League. As ever, we’re here to help, with five tips for Gameweek 21.
1. Lucas Moura – Tottenham, £6.9m
Not only for Tottenham’s next game against Cardiff, but for the weeks ahead when Heung-min Son is playing in the Asia Cup, Lucas will be a key player for both Spurs and your FPL team. He is only in 8.6% of teams and costs a reasonably £6.9m. Considering he has racked up 84 points, that’s good value.
2. Matt Doherty – Wolves, £5.2m
Doherty continues to fly high in the fantasy point scoring charts, with only four defenders accumulating more FPL points than him so far. At a measly £5.2m, you’d be a fool not to pick him – especially as Wolves host Crystal Palace next, who have not been able to score in the last two games.
3. Paul Pogba – Manchester United, £8.2m
He’s not exactly a hidden gem, but you can’t ignore his recent form. Since Mourinho’s departure, he has sprung into life, scoring four goals and picking up three assists in his last three games. Manchester United travel up to Newcastle on the second, and you’d imagine that he will continue this rich vein of form at St James’ Park.
4. Ricardo Pereira – Leicester, £5.2m.
Pereira’s stunning winner against Manchester City not long ago reminded us of his quality, and why Claude Puel has opted to play him further up the pitch, more as a winger than a right-back, at times. He is actually Leicester’s best performing fantasy player, with 80 points, and costs just £5.2m. Leicester go to Everton on New Year’s Day, and the Toffees have looked vulnerable in defence recently.
5. Andy Robertson – Liverpool, £6.6m
Oooohhhh Andy Andy, Andy Andy Andy Andy Robertson is the best performing defender in the world of fantasy football this season, with 110 points. He’s also Liverpool’s second highest point scorer, just behind Mo Salah. With a huge match against Manchester City coming up, which could ultimately decide the league title, Robertson will be raring to go. If he can get in behind Kyle Walker, he will be one of Liverpool’s most dangerous threats, putting crosses in from the left.
