It will ‘reveal the true story’ of this season
Fleetwood Town have been filming a documentary series following Joey Barton’s first season in charge of the League One club which promises to ‘reveal the true story’ of the 2018/19 campaign.
The series will be called ‘A Season on the Edge’ and will provide viewers with an “unprecedented level of insight” according to the club chairman Andy Pilley.
“As one of the biggest characters in football makes the transition from player to manager, this series closely charts Joey’s journey at Fleetwood Town,” said Pilley.
“The level of access that has been given to the film crews to Joe, the players and his staff I believe is unprecedented.
“The production crew are embedded at the very heart of the club, and in Friday Films, we found a partner who we could trust, in what can be a very intimate and highly charged environment. We are also delighted to have SENT entertainment also very much involved, who also shared our vision of bringing such unique access to viewers.
“We as a club are looking forward to revealing the true story of the current season.”
This week, Joey Barton firmly denied allegations that he assaulted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel last weekend after Fleetwood’s 4-2 loss to the Yorkshire club.
Police are investigating an alleged tunnel altercation after Barnsley’s 4-2 League One win at Oakwell on Saturday.
With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made. Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.
