Mayweather is once again set to come out of retirement to fight Logan Paul

YouTubers, influencers and celebrities turned boxers seem to be a fairly common occurrence these days – it was only recently Jake Paul beat former UFC star, Ben Askren, in just his third professional match.

Now, as confirmed by Floyd Mayweather himself, he will once again be coming out of his semi-retirement to fight Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul. The pair teased the “special exhibition” back at the end of 2020 but now things have been made official.

The 44-year-old has a staggering total of 50 wins in all 50 of his professional bouts. As Mayweather writes, the fight will take place on June 6th at the Hardrock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, and will be available to watch on Showtime Boxing – no doubt on PPV, as it will be on Fanmio.

Fight fan or not, a large portion of people will once again be hoping to see a Paul brother knocked out. Logan and Jake regularly divide opinion and aren’t strangers to controversy, but for followers of boxing, most people’s main problem is that their involvement (along with other celebrities) is undermining the sport.

In the lead up to his fight with Askren, our very own Alex Roberts spoke to fellow boxer, Ryan Garcia, asking him what he makes of talks that Jake Paul could fight McGregor. Here’s what he had to say:

Nevertheless, it seems neither Paul brother will be quitting boxing any time soon, as it is clear that both Jake and Logan look to pursue this as a serious second career. With Jake already having three wins under the belt and Logan’s two fights with KSI having given him some practice, the pair seem set to keep going.

In a post on his Instagram, Logan spoke of how the pair started this journey together but that “I don’t think either of us expected to fall in love with boxing or the surreal opportunities that would present themselves.” Both training hard, it seems the only thing that’s going to knock them down is the right opponent. Question is, will they continue to get back up?
