The Money Team

Jon Jones could be one step closer to joining Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team.

Mayweather has been teasing a move over to MMA as a promoter/manager for a while now, and arguably the greatest fighter on planet Earth has admitted being open to working with the boxing great in the past.

In his his one on one interview with Ariel Helwani following the hit-and-run which cost him his light-heavyweight belt last year, Jones suggested he may begin a partnership with Mayweather, saying: “You may see me in some Money Team gear.”

“I haven’t (talked to him yet), but my business partners have already reached out to him and you may see me in some Money Team gear,”Jones said.

“I’m not saying I’m joining ‘The Money Team’, but it’s definitely a possibility, I’m not opposed to it. Floyd’s career has been tremendous.”

Flash forward to present day and the combat sports stars have begun talking to each other. Jones posted a photo of himself having a FaceTime conversation with Mayweather on Wednesday. The caption contained the hashtag #MakingHistory suggesting that something ground-breaking may be about to take place.

The rumours that Jones may be about to join The Money Team are strengthened by Mayweather’s recent interview with ESNEWS, in which he revealed his interest in signing the MMA great.

“Jon Jones is with the MMA but we still gotta communicate and put some things together, me and him. We’d love Jon Jones to be a part of TMT. We steady growing. And it’s not just about us making money it’s about the talent winning.”

“That’s what we believe and that’s why so many promoters hate us and dislike us, because we believe in the talent winning when it’s all said and done.”
