Floyd Mayweather says Pacquiao clash will be his penultimate fight

He's sick of the ring...

Floyd Mayweather says he will quit boxing in September.

The 38-year-old says all the fun has gone out of the sport and he now just sees it as a job, and he will call it quits after the end of his Showtime contract.

Mayweather has two fights left under the terms of that deal, the first of which will see him take on Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas on May 2nd.

“I don’t enjoy it like I once did. My last fight is in September,” he said.

Manny Pacquiao v Timothy Bradley

Mayweather – unbeaten in 47 fights – says the fight in Las Vegas will see two fighters meeting at the pinnacle of their careers. Pacquiao has lost five and drawn two of his 57 fights.

Mayweather added: “He’s a future hall-of-famer. I am a future hall-of-famer.”

One man who could face Floyd in his final bout is Amir Khan, with Ricky Hatton insisting that the Bolton boxer has a style that could trouble Mayweather.

“Amir is boxing with a lot more discipline lately, he’s in and out and he’s not getting involved. I think that type of style will cause Floyd massive problems,” said Hatton.

“But, when you’re the best, pound-for-pound, like Floyd Mayweather – and Amir’s as big a name as is out there, he’s beaten pretty much everyone – he might be forced to fight Amir Khan.”
