The stats don’t lie.
Romelu Lukaku’s first season at Manchester United has been his best ever. On from the bench to score his side’s second in the win at Bournemouth on Wednesday evening, the Belgian striker’s goal tally now stands at 27 for the season. Not bad going at all.
Still, despite Lukaku’s efforts for United this season, it seems not everyone is entirely happy.
The win on the south coast offered the club’s supporters a rare opportunity to see both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial start in Jose Mourinho’s attack. The inclusion of the pair – who have both been linked with summer moves away from Old Trafford – along with Jesse Lingard prompted some to tweet that United actually looked better without their 27-goal striker.
With Mourinho favouring Lukaku as United’s lone striker in virtually ever game so far this season, many of these supporters claimed the team showed more pace and fluidity in their attack when the former Everton striker was off the field.
Others also suggested that Alexis Sanchez’s omission might also have played a part in this.
enjoyed that immensely… not having a dig at Lukaku, but United look far better without him

United tightened their grip on second place in the Premier League with the 2-0 win. If they finish the season runners-up, it will represent their best league campaign since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson five years ago.
They will now face Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. Something tells us that Romelu Lukaku might just be starting that game…
