Everton fans won’t be too pleased about this

So many footballing careers can hinge on a player being managed by the right coach at the right time. If Dele Alli had not been picked up by Mauricio Pochettino in 2015, would he have become such an efficient attacking midfielder, guaranteed to be in every England squad? Probably not. If David Moyes had not been appointed Manchester United manager when Wilfried Zaha arrive there in 2013, would Zaha have had more of a shot at breaking into the first team? Almost certainly.

Ademola Lookman found himself in a similar situation last winter when Sam Allardyce took over from Ronald Koeman at Everton and was given the task of keeping Everton up. Top of his to do list? Sped £47m on two attackers. With the arrivals of Theo Walcott and Cent Tosun, it was clear to Lookman that he should seek a loan move away in order to play more minutes.

Despite Big Sam’s best efforts to keep him at Goodison Park, the young winger insisted upon the move and got his wish, joining RB Leipzig for the second half of the 2017/18 season. As short term loan moves go, it turned out rather well. Lookman scored 5 goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances and Leipzig are interested in making his move permanent, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Everton are currently without a manager after they sacked Allardyce, content with his work in keeping Everton in the top flight but not optimistic that he was the man to lead them long-term. It is thought that Marco Silva will be their next manager, after they failed to get him last Autumn.

Lookman will reportedly wait until a new manager arrives before making a decision on his future.
