Germany’s green away kit for this summer’s World Cup in Russia is universally accepted as one of the best of the tournament. The shade and design are very much a throwback to the national uniform used during Italia 90 in the era of Matthaus, Klinsmann and Voller.
But the nostalgia for that era at Adidas HQ clearly doesn’t stop there. The German sports manufacturers have gone full retro by revamping the famous home kit worn by West Germany (before reunification) on their way to glory of Maradona’s Argentina in the Rome final.
The new kit includes the iconic red, yellow and black zigzag design borrowing from the nation’s flag, whilst the neckline, retro trefoil adidas logo, and even the numbering harks back to the early 90s era.
