This is a headache that Jose Mourinho could have done without.
Alexis Sanchez has been refused entry to the United States of America, leaving Mourinho without one of his star players on Manchester United’s preseason tour.
The club revealed that “a personal administrative issue” had prevented the forward from travelling to the US, while it’s since been reported by the Times that Sanchez was denied a visa due to a previous tax fraud conviction from his time in Spain.
Sanchez was hit with a 16-month prison sentence in February after being accused of defrauding the Spanish Treasury of €1 million while playing for Barcelona. He was spared time in jail because the sentence was less than two years and it was his first criminal offence.

United would have hoped for a full and fruitful preseason for Sanchez, who arrived from Arsenal in January, but it’s now been thrown into disarray as he is currently unable to take part in the upcoming friendlies against Club America, San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the US.
The Chile international remains hopeful of getting his visa issues sorted and joining his teammates at some stage of the tour but if he can’t, the only preseason friendly Sanchez will be available for will be against Bayern Munich in Germany five days before United’s first Premier League fixture.
