At what point do the players become the problem?

Almost half the Manchester United squad are rumoured to want a move away from the club, with many already becoming disillusioned by Ralf Rangnick’s tactics and with life at Old Trafford.

Reports in the Mirror have said that up to 11 players want out, highlighting a lack of playing time under Rangnick which has led to divisions in the dressing room, with one source quoted as saying: “It’s not good.

“The atmosphere is really bad and it looks like there are going to be big problems ahead for United.”

Among those frustrated include the likes of Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly who have all become frustrated at their lack of opportunities under the new boss.

Both Lingard and Van de Beek are yet to start a Premier League game this season, whilst Henderson is wanting to leave on loan to improve his chances of being named in the England squad for the World Cup, but Rangnick is reluctant to let the keeper leave.

Bailly meanwhile is also becoming frustrated by his lack of playing time despite United’s continuously poor defensive displays.

United have failed to show any signs of improvement under the interim boss since he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – the most recent game being a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which has caused widespread criticism of the performance of the players.

Despite the ongoing issues, there were some positives to take as Phil Jones received plaudits following his first appearance for the first team since January 2020 in which fans were heard singing the 29-year-old’s name as he left the pitch on Monday night.
