André Ayew was sent off in the first-half in Ghana’s must-win game against Comoros
André Ayew was controversially sent off in Ghana’s final group game of the Africa Cup of Nations against Comoros on Tuesday night.
In a must-win match for the Black Stars, the former Swansea City man was shown a straight red for a challenge on Comoros’ keeper, Salim Ben Boina in a 50/50 contest.
The island nation were 1-0 up at the time after El Fardou Ben Nabouhane’s historic fourth-minute strike had given them a shock lead.

After a lengthy delay, in which the footage of the challenge was looked over several times, Traore came to the conclusion that the Ghana captain’s tackle warranted a straight red card, leaving Ghana to play with 10-men for the best part of 70 minutes.
