It’s a new chapter at the Emirates
Unai Emery has officially taken over as Arsene Wenger’s successor in a head coach capacity and Arsenal welcomed their new boss with a video on Wednesday morning.
In the clip, which was posted to the club’s official Twitter account, the Gunners paid tribute to their managers of the past before opening up the new chapter that is Emery’s reign in charge.
The likes of George Graham, Tom Whittaker and Bertie Mee all received mentions as chapters in the decorated history of the football club but, bizarrely, the longest-serving manager in Arsenal’s history was left out of the montage.
Arsene Wenger was not included, despite leading the Gunners to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup triumphs.
The latter years of Wenger’s tenure were not as fruitful as supporters would have liked and most believed that the time was right for the club to move on but the decision to leave him out of a video of former managers has not gone down well.

No Wenger? Just because baldy has the arseache, it doesn’t mean he can just erase the greatest period in our history.

Why wasn’t Wenger included in the video?

For real left our greatest ever manager out of this montage? Have some shame.

Did you seriously just leave Arsène Wenger out of this montage? Jesus Christ what a clanger.

Just going to skip the most successful manager in Arsenal’s history, yeah?

Left Wenger, the greatest manager this club has ever had out of this montage. Tf

You’ve taken #WengerOut a little too far here.

This is disgraceful to leave out Wenger.

I think you forgot the chapter where Arsene Wenger managed the club for 22 years I think it was

The club made sure to introduce Emery as head coach rather than manager as they follow through with their intention to subscribe to the trendy, European model of allowing other figures in the club to look after recruitment and contract negotiations.
“I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game,” Emery said of his appointment.
“Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run.
“I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history. I have met Stan and Josh Kroenke and it’s clear they have great ambitions for the club and are committed to bringing future success.
“I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories.”
