Arsenal fans urge Anthony Martial to join Gunners after his tribute to Arsene Wenger

We're not sure it works this way, to be honest

Anthony Martial’s Manchester United future remains uncertain.

The French international has been the subject of numerous reports claiming he is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer, with Jose Mourinho unable to give him assurances on more playing time.

Juventus have been most strongly linked, although Barcelona have also been credited with interest in the last few weeks.

Despite being a firm fans’ favourite in Manchester, this isn’t the first time Martial has been linked with a move away from United. With Alexis Sanchez arriving at the club in January, there were some reports claiming Arsenal wanted Martial to move in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Instead, Henrikh Mkhitaryan made the move to north London, but it seems Arsenal supporters haven’t completely given up hope of signing the former Monaco forward.

Martial appeared from the bench as United defeated Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday in Arsene Wenger’s final visit to Old Trafford before he steps down as Gunners manager in the summer.

Martial briefly acknowledged the 68-year-old on the sidelines, later tweeting ‘tribute to a legend’ with an image of the pair.

The tweet has since received over 10,000 retweets. It has also, for some reason, given some Arsenal fans hope that Martial may yet end up plying his trade at The Emirates next season.
