Arsenal’s second official bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been rejected.
Borussia Dortmund turned down the Gunners’ most recent approach which arrived on Wednesday evening, believed to be in excess of £50 million, according to Sky Sports.
With Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitting that he was neither “confident or not confident” of bringing in the Gabon international, club representatives remain in Germany as they attempt to negotiate a deal.
Aubameyang remains one of Wenger’s top targets this month and it was believed that he was willing to let Olivier Giroud move to the Westfalenstadion as part of the deal but Wednesday’s bid is said to have been a cash-only offer.
The 28-year-old was left out of the Dortmund squad for Friday’s 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin, with question marks over his dedication.
“You never know how close you are,” Wenger said on Monday.

“This is the kind of thing – he is one of the possible movements, but we have other things in mind as well. We have plenty of opportunities and the final decision is not made.
“At the moment we are not close to any deal, Aubameyang or anybody else.”
New arrival Henrikh Mkhitaryan sent Twitter into overdrive on his first day as an Arsenal player as supporters believed the Armenia international, who played with Aubameyang during his Dortmund days, made an attempt to persuade his former teammate to follow him to North London.
This will brighten up your night Arsenal fans.
