“Crying in the club rn”
Tomas Rosicky bids farewell to football today, after a long career in which he played for Sparta Prague, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, before retiring in December 2017.
Injuries hindered his career, but when he was fit, he could light up a game with a moment of magic, earning him the nickname ‘Little Mozart’.
He is a classic case of ‘what if he hadn’t got injured’, because his talent was there for all to see.
The Czech midfielder held a testimonial today, inviting former teammates from all three clubs as well as the Czech Republic national side to take part.
Several former Arsenal players went along to take part, including Robin van Persie, Cesc FÃ bregas and Alexander Hleb.
Arsenal fans have historically not taken it well when their star players leave. Ask any of them what they think of Samir Nasri and the responses will be rather unsavoury. But plenty of Gooners couldn’t bring themselves to be angry today. Anger is mentally draining. Sometimes it’s better to look back at the fond memories those players brought.
As photos of the former Arsenal players circulated on Twitter, fans had a big online cry together, longing for the days of FÃ bregas combining with Van Persie.
