Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday
Benjamin Mendy is now accused of nine offences relating to six women after facing a new allegation of rape on Wednesday.
Mendy had been accused of seven counts of rape and one sexual assault, but a new charge was added at the Chester Crown Court today.
The 27-year-old allegedly raped a woman whilst on police bail in August 2021. He was remanded in custody the following month and remained there for 134 days.
The Frenchman was later granted bail on January 7 2022 and was spotted wearing an electronic ankle tag following his release from Strangeways prison in Manchester. He was moved from HMP Altcourse in December 2021.
Mendy is due to appear at the court again on March 11 for a further hearing and is due to face trial on 25 July.
